The first step in the USPS fingerprinting process is to receive an invitation from USPS. This usually happens after you've applied for a job with the Postal Service. Step 2: Get a Set of Your Fingerprints Taken Use a fingerprint form (FD-1164) that is routinely used by applicants or law enforcement to collect fingerprints. In order to be accepted by the FBI, fingerprint cards must be printed on white paper. You must present a fingerprint card that is up to date. There are no exceptions to this rule.
